Joe McEnerney, President
Joe McEnerney served as Chief Financial Officer and Senior Credit Officer of First National Bank of Baldwin County from December 2001 to July 2008. From August 1990 to December 2001, Mr. McEnerney served as the Senior Commercial Lender and Sales Manager for Regions Bank of Shelby County and managed a commercial lending group of five commercial lenders with a loan portfolio of $150 million. Mr. McEnerney received an undergraduate degree and MS degree in Environmental Sciences form Auburn University and an MBA from Indiana University with a specialty in finance and operations.
Mr. McEnerney has served in various community activities including Campaign Chairman for the Boy Scouts of America, Board member and officer of the Auburn Alumni Association, Treasurer of the Fairhope Airport Authority, a participant in Leadership Shelby County, and as a Board member and officer of the Alabama Coastal Alliance.
Mr. McEnerney is married to the former Jane Jackson of Lakeland, Florida and they are the parents of two teenage daughters, Anne who is a sophomore at University of Alabama and Nancy who is a junior at Fairhope High school. The McEnerney’s live in Point Clear.
Catherine Hall Kiser, NCIDQ, LEED AP, ACF Vice President
Catherine is a founding member of Watershed, Green Consulting and Education for the Deep South. She is a LEED accredited professional and an NCIDQ qualified interior designer. Catherine holds dual degrees in Interior Design and Architecture from Auburn University. Previous to Watershed, she worked for Walcott Adams Verneuille Architects, where she was part of the design team for several LEED projects and designed a variety of residential and commercial projects. In addition to her work as a sustainable building consultant, she enjoys designing custom furniture, sailing, gardening and pursues her belief in protecting the environment by serving on the board of the Alabama Coastal Foundation.
Brooks Delaney, Treasurer
Brooks has spent the majority of his life on and around the waters of South Alabama. Growing up on Dog River in a family where fishing, boating, and waterskiing were a way of life, Brooks developed a keen appreciation for our coastal region. A resident of Fairhope, Brooks has a young family that he is raising to share similar interests by actively enjoying our local rivers, bays, and the Gulf of Mexico.
Brooks’ company, called Edgewater Management, invests in and operates several small business interests along the gulf coast, in the areas of construction, mining, building material production, and real estate development. Brooks holds an undergraduate finance degree from Auburn University, and a Masters in Business Administration from the University of Alabama.
Tom Schlinkert, Secretary
Tom Schlinkert is a resident of Baldwin County whose home is on Wolf Bay in the Josephine community. An avid sailor and outdoorsman, Tom moved to coastal Alabama in 1995 after many years as a part time resident.
Schlinkert Sports Associates, the company Tom founded 28 years ago, specializes in the sales and marketing of outdoor, paddle sports and sailing products to retailers in the southeast. His flair for and interest in marketing coupled with his deep commitment to the conservation of Alabama’s coast drew him to his current involvement as a board member at Alabama Coastal Alliance. Look for his fingerprints on such things as ACF’s new logo, graphic design and T-shirt art.
Gena Todia
Gena, of Wetland Resources Environmental Consulting, is a wildlife biologist and wetland scientist with over 20 years’ experience in natural resources management and wetland regulatory issues. She is a graduate of Auburn University and worked as a park ranger and wildlife biologist for the Mobile District Corps of Engineers for 12 ½ years.
She formed her own company, Wetland Resources, in 1993 and offers environmental consulting services throughout much of the southeast.
Areas of specialization include: Wetland identification and delineation; Wetland permitting & mitigation; Ecological restoration; Threatened & endangered species issues; Invasive plant species prevention and control; Environmental education
Her office and home are located in Fairhope.
Dr. Brenda Litchfield, Ph.D
Brenda is a Professor in the Instructional Design and Development program at the University of South Alabama in Mobile, Alabama. Brenda taught science in grades K-12 for 11 years in public schools. She has taught at Florida State University and has been at the University of South Alabama for 19 years. She currently teaches educational psychology, project coordination, instructional learning theories, and design and development of training courseware at the graduate level. She also teaches secondary science methods courses. She received her BS in Elementary Education from the University of Florida, her Master's in Science Education from the University of North Florida, and her Ph.D. in Instructional Systems from Florida State University. Her research interests are in the areas of motivation, metacognition, and self-regulated learning especially in online courses. She is active in environmental education and has directed the development of several activity books and multimedia projects for the National Science Foundation, the Environmental Protection Agency, US Fish and Wildlife, and state environmental organizations. She conducts teacher training workshops for her university and local school systems throughout the area. She has conducted almost 250 workshops on a variety of topics. She has taught online courses since 1998 and teaches courses on how to design online courses. With her husband, Dr. Jack Dempsey, and Neil Johnston, Esq. (ACF board) she has designed, developed, and produced Ribbits’ Big Splash and Skeeter’s Wild Adventures CD-ROMs on conservation and environmental education.
Sam St. John
Sam St John is President of Logical Computer Solutions, a computer network integration and service company with offices in Mobile and Baldwin counties. Sam’s background is in Chemical Engineering and worked with Fortune 500 companies in electronics and factory automation before starting his own company in this area. Sam is married and has three children in college. In his spare time likes to fish, kayak and fly his amphibious airplane observing Alabama and Mississippi coastal resources.
