"Coastal Stout"
In the fall of 2020, Braided River Brewing made a new beer for the Alabama Coastal Foundation: Coastal Stout is inspired by the tropical stouts of the Caribbean! They've kept things sweet and fruity, but have added oyster shells in the brewing process for smoothness and a bit of briney salinity. This brew honors the coast and those that take care of it!
Since oyster shells were provided through ACF's Oyster Shell Recycling Program, a portion of the proceeds will go to support the great work we do to protect and improve our Alabama coastline.
Brewing Process
Shells were recycled and cleaned through the OSRP's process and then donated to Braided River for the brewing process. The cleaned shells were placed in the brewing barrel during the mixing and fermenting processes to draw out the flavors of our coast! We hope you enjoy it as much as we have!
Beer Release Dates and Availability
The Coastal Stout was released on October 29th at our Connect To Your Coast event at Braided River Brewing Company. The stout will be available in cans and on tap in their taproom, at bars, restaurants, and grocery stores. Be sure to look out for this seasonally brewed stout yearly from November through February.
