The Gulf Coast Bay Buddy Program is a FREE educational enrichment program that teaches basic conservation concepts to students in grades 1 - 3.
Staff and trained community volunteers visit local elementary schools and lead a PowerPoint presentation highlighting the importance of a healthy environment and how student choices can affect the natural world. At the conclusion, all participating students receive an activity booklet reinforcing the lessons taught.
The presentations are checked against state educational standards and guidelines and each presentation is tailored to be grade specific. Last year, both the materials and the scheduling process were improved to make it easier for schools to request presentations.
