Alabama Coastal Kids Quiz

This is the 20th year that fun and engaging program will offer 5th grade students the chance to learn about Alabama's coastal environment. We hope you will help us get the word out to all teachers in the state to help increase the impact of that program.

For the 2020-2021 school year, the Alabama Coastal Kids Quiz is taking place online five times with five teachers selected each round to receive $100 in support of instruction in the classroom. To help further learning, we have posted the completed rounds (below) so your students can click on the various topics to learn and quiz themselves anytime! Also, for our final round on sea turtles, we are offering seven $100 checks! To be eligible f0r the $100 drawing for the final round, a fifth grade teacher must be registered in our system by clicking the "Teacher Form" button below.

Teachers must register individually and those who meet the minimum 80% participation requirement for each Quiz will be eligible to receive $100 for each of the topic sessions. Drawings for the five winners will be done randomly and will be announced on the dates listed above.

Similarities and Differences: As in the past, the new Alabama Coastal Kids Quiz will still have the purpose of encouraging 5th grade students to deeply learn—in a fun way—about various topics related to Alabama's precious coastal environment. Also, it still provides trusted resources and financial incentives to encourage learning. The even better news is that the new format also-

  • Allows more public/private school teachers and students throughout the state to gain that knowledge;

  • Provides more flexibility for teachers and students to participate each school year by offering five topic specific quiz opportunities; and,

  • Offers more ways for teachers to receive much needed funding to support education efforts in the classroom.

Next Steps: Any Alabama fifth grade teacher who is interested in participating should click the button to complete the 2020-2021 form:
