EcoTeam - Mardi Gras, 2024

The City of Mobile along with the Cleaner, Greener LoDa Committee, fromed by the Downtown Mobile Alliance, brings together a group of like-minded organizations and city departments to develop ways for the Downtown area to be more sustainable.

During Mardi Gras Season the Mobile City Public Works Department works hard to make the celebratory season litter free!

  • They placed an additional 100 metal blue trash cans around downtown Mobile as well as 5 blue plastic cans for recyling only in each park and scattered along the parade routes.

  • During and after the parades, City workers walked around with black trash bags and clear recycle bags.

The City of Mobile collected 8,850 pounds of recyclable materials during the 2023 Mardi Gras season!
